Any thoughts?

Though you all seem to be very interested in the stay-at-home article series (for which I am very thankful!), I'm sure there are other topics you would like to see covered here. Some time ago, I began Question and Answer Week, where you could ask me questions and then I would post my answers for everyone. I'm going to begin doing this again, in the hopes of better serving each of you and answering any questions you may have.

Perhaps you are in a different boat and instead of having a question, you would simply like to see me write about a certain subject. Please let me know what you would like to see covered here in the next few weeks.

Thank you for your input!

  1. Please write more on Stay-at-home daughterhood! My 16-1/2 year old daughter is struggling with what God says about staying home. She believes that is what His Word says and that it is what God wants of her, but her "friends" encourage her to go the way of the world. Your blog and discussion of God's word have had a tremendous impact on her. Please, keep writing!!

  2. Dear Rebekah,

I would like to know how your family's experience with your father's operation affected your beliefs. My father had a similar operation and I am struggling to know how to feel about it.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom!

  3. Anonymous,

Oh, how wonderful to hear how the Lord's working through my humble project. I'm so in awe of Him; praise the Lord! I will definitely keep writing on this topic, and joyfully look forward to serving and encouraging your daughter in any way possible.

I know how hard it is at times to be different, especially when someone is ridiculing you. I encourage your daughter to immerse herself in God's Word and prayer; the more she does that, the easier it will be to stand up for stay-at-home daughterhood an any other topic she may be thought wierd for imbracing. I'll keep her in my prayers!

Has she ever seen the Botkin ladies' documentary, "The Return of the Daughters". I think watching that would be a great encouragement to her. I would encourage your daughter to also strive to share with others why she is dedicated to remaining at home after graduation-you never know how the Lord may use her words! :)

God bless you, and thank you for sharing this with me! :)

P.S. I want to assure your daughter also that true joy comes only through embracing God's Word and His will for us. Her "friends"' lifestyles and the ways of the world may seem glamorous, but they are not. They are dangerous and destructive and end in sorry and a lack of fulfillment. "There is a way which seemeth right to a man, but the end thereof is destruction!" I encourage your daughter to embrace Biblical stay-at-home daughterhood joyfully; she won't regret it!

    Emily,

Hello! :) It was nice to hear from you. I don't know how wise I am, but would be happy to share with and minister to you in any way possible.

Were you wanting to know more about my father's first procedure or his most recent reversal? Which kind of procedure are you struggling with how to feel about?

Thank you for your great question, and I look forward to addressing this topic for you.

    The Lord bless you!

  4. Rebekah,

You are so kind to answer my question! I do hope it's not too personal. Here's my dilemma: I, like you, have been homeschooled in a conservative Christian environment for quite a while. It's very unusual to find someone whose father has also had such a procedure, because, to my mind, at least, it seems to contradict the values my parents have taught me. They did teach me that children are a blessing from the Lord, but when I learned about my father's operation (which was never reversed) --- I struggle to know how to reconcile the values they taught me with their own practice.

So I suppose my question is: has your family always adhered to the beliefs you hold now? Or is it a more recent development? I hope this makes sense ~ I'm not quite sure how to phrase everything.

    With love,
    Emily
