Show and Tell Friday!
This is my second week to participate in Kelli's Show and Tell Friday! I hope you enjoy my post this week, and I encourage you to join in on the fun as well!! :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This ring has inscribed upon it the words True Love Waits. It was given to me on my 13th birthday by my dear parents. It is so precious to me and is a truly treasured gift. My plan is to wear it on my ring finger until my wedding day, and I have done so now for 2 years. I will continue to wear it during my time of engagement as well, along with my engagement ring(if I have one), as a symbol of my committment of purity to my future husband. Only on my wedding day will it be taken off, when it is replaced by my wedding ring. This ring has become very special to me, and I'm so thankful for my dear parents who gave it to me so that I could have a symbol of my commitment to purity.
What a sweet treasure your ring is! My daughters had/have them as well. Oldest daughter, Rachel, wore a simple gold band that she received from us on her 16th birthday. When she married, she had it sized and the inside engraved for her husband's wedding ring.
ReplyDeleteMy other daughter is still single and still wears hers. She is 30 years old BTW.
:o)
Hi, Dawn! Thank you so much for visiting! Yes, it is such a treasure! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! What a wonderful idea!! That is so neat what your daughter Rachel did! I'm sure that meant so much!
And I really admire your other daughter's commitment as well. That is wonderful!
Thank you so much for sharing, it made my day!
Blessings,
Rebekah
ReplyDeletePurity rings are a great reminder of what we're waiting for. Thanks for sharing about yours!
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed in deed and will be such a blessing to that special someone God has already picked out and is preparing for YOU!!
Dear Rebekah,
ReplyDeleteWhere did your parents buy the ring? I love the inscription.
What a wonderful commitment! Your ring is very pretty.
We did the same thing for our daughter, but it did not have the inscription. We bought her an emerald ring for that purpose (that was her birthstone). When she got engaged her husband to be gave her an engagement ring that he designed with and emerald and diamonds to match. I just wish we had given rings to our sons as well!! They do make nice rings for guys too.
ReplyDeleteJoyfulwifemom,
ReplyDeleteHi! Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you return often. Thank you so much! :) Yes, it's a blessing and such a treasure! My plan is to pass it on to my first born daughter one day(Lord willing).
SoulsforChrist7,
Hi!! Welcome back to my blog! :) It's a joy to see you here again. I'm so sorry I haven't responded to your other comments yet; I will do so right now, and then you can go check them out and read them. I really love the inscription, too! And it's a great witnessing tool and conversation starter! My parents purchased it at LifeWay, a big Christian bookstore. There might be one in your area. More than likely there is, as they seem to be everywhere! :) And I know for a fact that they still sell them, as I was just in there the other day and saw the display of them.
Have a blessed weekend, and thank you so much for your comment! :)
NannyKim,
That is so neat! What a great idea her future husband had! How sweet. I completely agree! I think these rings make a great symbol of purity for boys as well! Because of the way they're made, they're neither masculine nor feminine, so they are great for boys to wear. In fact, I wish more boys did! I know of girls who wear them, but I don't really know of any boys who do.
What a great show & tell that goes right with the theme of your blog.
ReplyDeleteMay God bless you as you honor Him.
What a wonderful ring. Even more inspiring that you plan to keep yourself pure! How beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
Jane
A beautiful ring, in its style, its sentiment, and its symbolism.
ReplyDeleteJendi,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!
Many blessings,
Rebekah
What a wonderful gift from your parents and what a wonderful gift you are saving for your future husband. My husband and I dated for 5 years prior to marriage and it was waiting was certainly the best wedding gift. Blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wonderful idea, Rebekah! Your ring is very pretty and what a sweet gifr from your parents. I'm sure they are very proud of you!
ReplyDeleteKelli
Oh Rebekah, I read your post on the ring with great admiration. You may be very proud of it! And how wonderful that you intend to pass it on to your first daughter one day!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes from Germany,
Anita
What a great treasure! My DH and I once were on vacation and we visited a church for the first time and they were having a whole ceremony with their teens and their parents. The teens had all just completed the True Love Waits course and they were being presented with their rings. It was such a great service to be in.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing I have heard about these rings is when a young lady is ready to be married she has the ring melted down to make a wedding ring to give her new husband on their wedding day.
The Lord will bless you for staying pure and waiting till marriage. God Bless you!
